Led by the bewitching voice and energy of the seductive and charismatic riot-girl Ciara Thompson, The Buttshakers lay down warm, raw soul music that digs into the furrows of the addictive rhythms and beating blues of the music they love so much. A rhythm’n’blues vibe with a touch of garage rock and a high dosage of sex-appeal make their songs powerful hits, turning their shows into furious dance floors. Bursting with contagious energy, “booty shakers” are capable of igniting rockers, jazzmen and mods alike, and quite simply soul lovers with a damp fever and dancing.
Born in early 2007 and quickly joined by Ciara, a young singer freshly landed from Saint-Louis (Missouri), the 6 musicians of the Buttshakers immediately find the path of their soul/rock energy. From the first months on, concerts followed one after another, shaping a real stage group which distilled its soulmusic all over France, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain,… with more than 200 dates since 2009.
The scenes shared with among others the Dirtbombs, the Bellrays, The Go Team!, Ben l’Oncle Soul on Les Nuits Sonores festivals, the Summer Safari Festival, the Eurockéennes, or even the A Vaulx Jazz festival but also rooms such as The Golden arrow, the Wire, the Factory, the Clacson, The Other Canal, the Cardboard industry to name a few, allowed the Buttshakers to acquire an ever growing notoriety based on an explosive set, a magnetic singer and a jubilant show.
